SPOTLIGHT

Dawn Fowler

In an effort to get to know each other better, we are currently putting the “Spotlight” on one of our newer members, Dawn Fowler.

Dawn says, “I started sewing in Girl Scouts. I mostly sewed clothing. In the 80’s I took a quilt class. I have been quilting ever since. When asked about her favorite type of quilting she said, “I like to try all kinds of quilting, especially trying new techniques and patterns.”

Dawn joined the Guild a couple of years ago when she met Cindy Shong at a Purple Bobbin retreat. Dawn said Cindy went to school with her oldest sister. “Cindy invited me to a Guild meeting and I joined shortly after. Since retiring almost a year ago, I have become more active in the Guild.” Previously, Dawn worked at MACI as a Quality Engineer.

Dawn has been very generous with her time at Guild related activities. She serves as Maintenance Chairperson on the Board which requires overseeing the setup at each Guild meeting and keeping track of the Guild’s inventory. In addition, Dawn took on the daunting task of planning, setting up and taking down all the many quilt racks for our very recent Quilt Show.

Dawn also started the Vintage Sewing Machine group and continues to coordinate that group’s meetings and activities. In addition, this year she is serving as the Director at Large on the Guild’s Board. She is a voting member of the Board and encourages the input from Guild members about how to continue to improve our Guild. She puts out a suggestion box at every Guild meeting and hopes the attending members will share their ideas, questions and concerns.

We are very fortunate to have Dawn as a member of the Guild. Please say hi to her at the next Guild meeting and thank her for all she is contributing to make our Guild bigger and better.
